Kutzenko's characters are well-established people who came to success through a hard, thorny path. But each of them has unexpectedly fragile side, which makes them amazingly human: a retired governor stubbornly nurses an apple tree, which others consider worthless. A life-wrecked colonel gets rid of kidney stones in a traditional and very painful way to prove to himself that he is still in control of his life. A Norwegian politician selflessly takes care of the others, but fails to protect himself.
