The novel deals with the life story of the heroine "Rita", who struggles with life in order to save herself from falling into the clutches of evil. She sees him embodied in many characters that surround her, and she tries to wrap threads around her neck that resemble the threads of a poisonous female spider, so she escapes from seeing him in her home amid extended conflicts between... The rebellious child represented in her person, and her mother, "Zahwa," who is always trying to recover her from her dangerous journey in the atmosphere of her work in journalism, and throughout the chapters of the novel, the heroine mocks the character of the editor-in-chief who calls for the revolution and, on the other hand, aborts the rights of young journalists, which creates for her and her friends a world filled with disappointment. Personality mixes with the political disappointment during the Mubarak era, so the revolution breaks out and her dreams evaporate with the revolutionaries that the military council will take over the rule of the country. Through many chapters in the novel, the heroine tries to overcome all the disappointments that she faces, which she concludes with the loss of her son as a result of a miscarriage, in order to close all the painful pages of the past, and return to her room, which she calls The abandonment room to embrace all her memories and begin writing to seek refuge in them as a source of safety.
